How do I install the Sniffer10G tbz and load the driver?
Sniffer10G is currently supported on FreeBSD 8 and 9 as a TBZ. To install the driver on FreeBSD 8 issue the following command:
# pkg_add snf-<version_info>_FreeBSD_8_amd64.tbz
As a result of a successful installation, the package will be installed in /usr/local/.
Load the driver by typing:
# /usr/local/opt/snf/sbin/myri_start_stop start
The installation instructions are the same for FreeBSD 9, except that the package name is snf-<version_info>_FreeBSD_9_amd64.tbz.
How do I uninstall the Sniffer10G TBZ and driver?
To uninstall the FreeBSD 8 Sniffer10G TBZ, execute the following commands:
sudo /usr/local/opt/snf/sbin/myri_start_stop stop sudo pkg_delete snf-<version_info>_FreeBSD_8_amd64
Note:
-
If the driver was automatically loaded at boot time, you will also need to remove the myri_start_stop from /etc/rc.local.
-
The uninstall instructions are the same for FreeBSD 9, except that the package name is snf-<version_info>_FreeBSD_9_amd64.
